The recording of our latest webinar about applying to graduate school in archaeology is now online, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ59gFB4_DA. This video, and recordings of our previous webinars offering advice on graduate admissions, is also linked from our website, at go.brown.edu/archFAQs.

This discussion, held on November 8, 2023, is an overview of the graduate application process by three faculty members (Professors Laurel Bestock, Yannis Hamilakis, and Andrew Scherer) in Brown University’s doctoral program in Archaeology and the Ancient World, and two current graduate students (Mason Shrader and Anna Soifer) in the program. These panelists describe how they review applications to the Ph.D. program and share what they look for in a promising application. They discuss what constitutes a strong personal statement, who to ask for letters of recommendation, what courses to take to prepare yourself for graduate study in archaeology, and the range of careers that graduates of the program pursue.
