This page provides key information on housing arrangements for Meiks, required orientation meetings, and the main advising day.For advising handbooks, group contact information, and other uploaded files, visit ASK. 

Housing
All Meiklejohns with on-campus housing may move back in as early as Wednesday, August 29. If you would like to move into your room on campus earlier than that, you may do so by contacting the Office of Residential Life and paying an additional housing fee of $30 per night.

Fall Orientation
Meiklejohn Fall Orientation is mandatory for all Meiklejohn Peer Advisors. Failure to attend Orientation will jeopardize your participation in the Meiklejohn Program.

Rookie Meiklejohn Orientation
Saturday, September 1, from 1:30-5:00 p.m., Andrews Dining Hall. Lunch will be available at Sharpe Refectory from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Although it may be feasible for you to arrive on campus in the morning on Saturday, we recommend that you move in no later than the evening of Friday, September 2, in order to get settled in. Dinner will be available from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in Andrews Dining Hall.

Orientation for both Rookie and Veteran Meiklejohns
Sunday, September 2, from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., in Andrews Dining Hall. Breakfast will be available in Andrews starting at 8:30 a.m. We recommend that Veteran Meiklejohns arrive in Providence no later than the evening of Saturday, September 1.

Academic Advising Day
Tuesday, September 4
Please meet your faculty or staff advising partner at 8:15 a.m. in the tent on Ruth Simmons Quadrangle (formerly Lincoln Field), unless your advising partner contacts you directly to schedule a different meeting time or location. Most Meiklejohns will meet with their first-year advisees as a group at 9:30 a.m. Individual advising meetings follow from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Salomon Deci Auditorium

Meiklejohn Spring Orientation will take place on Tuesday, January 22, the day before spring semester classes begin. Please make your winter travel arrangements accordingly. You should plan to set aside the late morning and all afternoon on the January 22  for Orientation events.More information on Spring Orientation will follow in the coming weeks.

Meik Meal (Group Advising Dinner)
Monday, February 4, 2013: 5:30-7:30pm, Sharpe Factory in the "Caves"

Join your Meiklejohn and the other first-years in your advising group for dinner at the Sharpe Refectory on Monday, February 4 between 5:30-7:30pm. This is a great opportunity to discuss academic life at Brown and to strategize for the semester ahead. Your Meik will contact you about your Meik Meal time; meet in the "Cave" with the Meiklejohn banner displayed.
