Summer Email #6 (students entering fall only)

Summer Email #6: Final Tasks and Fall Orientation Schedule (August 15, 2012)

Dear Brown students:

Your arrival on campus is now just a few weeks away!

Arrival: When you arrive on campus, head to the Residential Life Office to pick up your keys and an arrival packet, which includes important information including the time and location of your academic seminar (where you’ll discuss Sons of Providence), the date and time of your first advising meeting with an academic dean, the name of your faculty advisor, and the number of transfer credits you have received if your official transcript has arrived.

Orientation: We’ve enclosed the Transfer, Visiting, and Resumed Undergraduate Education (RUE) Orientation Schedule (also posted on our T/V/RUE Orientation website). Events that might be helpful for parents and families are marked with a (P). Please be sure to mark your calendars for REQUIRED and RECOMMENDED events such as:

  • Welcome Meeting: Saturday, Sep 1, 4:00 p.m. in Salomon 001 (on the college green) -- REQUIRED
  • Academic Nuts & Bolts: Sunday, Sep 2, 9:00 a.m. in List Art Building 120 (64 College Street) -- REQUIRED

Orientation Website: Remember that upcoming deadlines are posted on the "Materials to Send to Brown" section of our site. These include:

  • Letter to Your Advisor (due August 7) If you haven't done so, please submit online ASAP
  • Academic & Student Conduct Code Tutorial (due August 20): follow the individual link that was emailed to you.

Our website also has PDFs of many of the materials that have been mailed to you on the "Summer T/V/RUE Mailings and Emails" page.

Transfer Credits (for transfers only): If you’ve submitted a final transcript, you’ll soon be able to view the transfer credits that have been applied to your record, accessible via Banner.  Don't worry now about assigning specific credits toward concentration requirements; we will explain this process during Orientation. We have not yet completed inputting transfer credits, so don't be alarmed if you do not see them when you log into Banner self-service.

And finally… as you pack, check out the "Brown is Green" site, which offers a list of Top 10 Green Move-In Tips

As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us!

Best,

Deans Besenia Rodriguez and Maitrayee Bhattacharyya
Transfer, RUE, and Visiting Student Deans
