On Friday, September 12, nearly 50 students came together for an Innovation Picnic on Brown’s Main Green to meet student innovation groups, talk about different opportunities on Brown and RISD’s campuses, and eat pizza.

First Innovate Change Lab Explores Intersections

On Thursday, March 20th, the first ever Innovate Change Lab brought together 100 students and innovators at Flatbread Company for two hours of presentations, networking, and delicious flatbread. With the theme of “Intersections,” presenters included:

  • Bernise Ang, a leader in the movement to tackle urban poverty in Singapore with the social venture Syinc

  • Isabelle Yisak ‘14.5 and Rexy Dorado ‘15, representing Kaya Co., a social venture that blends social innovation and ethnic identity within the Filipino diaspora

Brown Hosts Annual SEEED Summit

The third annual SEEED Summit will take place in Providence, April 25-26 at Brown University. The summit is a collaboration that includes the Providence-based Social Enterprise Greenhouse, Brown’s Social Innovation Initiative and its SEEED student group, and Worldways Social Marketing. Summit planners expect the event to attract 500 people from social enterprises, academia, business and the investment community.

Highlights from Ashoka U #Exchange2014

Brett Anders '15 leads a closing panel of Ashoka U university presidents.:

On February 20-22, we were proud to host the Ashoka U Exchange at Brown, the world’s largest convening for social entrepreneurship education. The Exchange brought together 650 individuals from 150 institutions and 40 countries to share action-oriented best practices on how to foster a campus-wide culture of social innovation.
