At A Better World by Design, presenters share engaging stories, workshops teach creative skills, and discussions re-frame perspectives. Better World is an immersive experience that deepens our understanding of the power of design, technology, and enterprise to engage our communities and sustain our environment.

A collaboration between Brown University and Social Enterprise Greenhouse, SEEED (Social Enterprise Ecosystem Economic Development) is the first national conference that focuses on what is needed to build an effective social enterprise ecosystem that can drive economic development.

Ashoka U works to bring more relevance to higher education. Its vision is to have faculty members bring their passion and skills to the classroom, students bring their entrepreneurial thinking and desire for active learning—and together create campus environments where people work together to solve real-world problems in new and creative ways.  As one of its Changemaker Campuses, Brown will be hosting the next Ashoka U Exchange in spring 2014.

Created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.  At TEDxProvidence, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

The BIF (Business Innovation Factory) Summit is a national gathering of amazing people who are driven by their passion, creativity, and smarts to create value in entirely new ways. Believing in the power of stories to change the world, the BIF Summit is a storytelling jam, peppered with tales of personal discovery, innovation, and transformation.

Conferences in the region

Yale's Global Health Innovation Conference is the world's leading and largest global health conference as well as the largest social entrepreneurship conference, with 2,200 professionals and students from all 50 states and more than 55 countries. This must-attend, thought-leading conference convenes leaders, changemakers, and participants from all sectors of global health, international development, and social entrepreneurship.

Harvard's Igniting Innovation Summit on Social Entrepreneurship brings together students, academics, and leaders in the field who are passionate about developing innovative solutions to today's most pressing problems.  The unconventional conference will explore this theme through TED-style talks, topic-specific discussion panels, expressive workshops, and an Innovation Showcase.

Conferences nationwide

Throughout the Starting Bloc Institute for Social Innovation, Candidates (students and young professionals ages 18-30) receive the training, education, and connections necessary to accelerate their careers in social impact. StartingBloc speakers lead interactive sessions that demonstrate how to blend social and economic impact.

Every April in Northwestern University, delegates attend the Global Engagement Summit, each with their own community development project or social entrepreneurship venture that they hope to bring to the next level.  The Summit features a week of capacity-building workshops, critical discussions, community building and networking, and outcome resources. 

SOCAP (Social Capital Markets) creates intersections where impact investors, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, civic leaders, and innovators form partnerships and mobilize resources and capital for good.  Its goals are to connect impact investors with investable entrepreneurs; highlight trends and new research from the field; and enable connections that create a market where meaning has a place at the table.
