Brown's Dean of the College office provides academic support services that supplement the support provided by course instructors. Students are encouraged to visit faculty and TAs during office hours, to attend problem sessions, and to access other departmental resources for learning, whether or not they are experiencing academic difficulty.
Students looking for individualized help in coursework — beyond what they can find in normal office hours with an instructor or TA — can find help at several campus locations. Support for introductory science and math courses is available through the Science Center and the Math Resource Center. Individual and group tutoring is available for many introductory courses, as well as courses in economics and statistics.
Students needing help with writing and English language learning will find robust support in our Writing Center, which offers one-on-one conferences as well as workshops on writing and communicating in English. Individual support is available for all students at Brown.
Students may also register for academic coaching or request to participate in a facilitated study group for select courses. Click on the links at left to access the many services we offer that will help you achieve your academic goals.
