Materials by Design Industry/University Collaborations and the Materials Genome Initiative Thursday, March 29, 2012 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Salomon Center, Room 101 69-91 Waterman Street Providence, RI Materials by Design is a Town Meeting in support of the Materials Genome Initiative (MGI). The MGI is an ambitious new federal plan to double the speed with which the United States discovers, develops, and manufactures new materials. Featured speakers and panelists from industry, academia, and federal agencies will explore: • New materials for automobiles, aerospace, energy conversion/storage, microelectronics, and medical devices • Emergent computational and experimental approaches • Strategies for sharing, storing, and searching materials data • Best practices for industry/university/government collaboration Plenary Speaker: Cyrus Wadia Assistant Director for Clean Energy and Materials R&D White House, Office of Science and Technology Policy An open poster session will highlight recent advances and applications of MGI-related materials research.
