School of Engineering BROWN UNIVERSITY Prof. Claudio Rosito Jung Institute of Informatics Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 at noon Room: Barus & Holley 190 Overview of Research in Image Processing and Computer Vision at UFRGS In this talk, I will talk a little bit about some research topics developed at UFRGS in the areas of image processing and computer vision. In particular, I will cover topics related to intelligent vehicles (focusing on lane detection and lane departure detection using onboard cameras), unusual behavior detection (background removal, tracking and the detection of some specific events), medical image analysis (focusing on mammographic image analysis and skin lesions), multimodal speaker localization and voice activity detection using arrays of microphones and the feed on a monocular video camera, stereo/multiview matching and view interpolation. Short bio: Cláudio Rosito Jung received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Applied Mathematics, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Sciences, from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, in 1993,1995 and 2002, respectively. He is currently an Assistant Professor at UFRGS in the Computer Science department. His research interests include image denoising and enhancement, image segmentation, medical imaging, multiscale image analysis, intelligent vehicles, object tracking, multimedia applications, human motion analysis and stereo/multiview matching. He is an IEEE Senior Member. Prof. Jung is visiting Brown under the UFRGS-Brown Global Forums program through the Office of International Affairs. Host: Professor Gabriel Taubin
