The Great American Campus Novel

ENGL 0201Y S01 [CRN: 25265]

Attracting some of the finest authors of 20th-century American literature, the "campus novel" presents a vision of university life, by turns comic and tragic, that also critiques society beyond its walls. The course explores how the genre is bound up with questions posed by liberalism, the Cold War, and popular culture. Authors include Fitzgerald, Nabokov, DeLillo, Roth, Bellow, Chabon, and Eugenides.
