Bradin Cormack Lecture

Bradin Cormack, Professor of English at Princeton University, will present a lecture on Shakespeare titled “In the Time of Example: Being Unruly in Shakespeare" on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 6:00 pm in the Department of English, 70 Brown Street, Room 315. Cormack will consider the basic questions, central to any theory of exemplarity, of how cases or examples make knowledge and what, in turn, it is to follow an example into action. “The Merchant of Venice” and “Macbeth” will be among his primary texts.

Mark Feeney talk

Mark Feeney is a Pulitzer Prize winning culture critic for “The Boston Globe” and writes about art and culture, primarily photography and film. He is currently a Visiting Professor of English in the Nonfiction Writing Program at Brown. Feeney will discuss the creation of a book in a public lecture, “President in the Dark: Writing ‘Nixon at the Movies,’ ” and will demonstrate how he refracts Nixon’s life and career through various Hollywood films and film genres and vice versa.
