Join Elizabeth Gray, author of "The Green Sea of Heaven: Fifty Ghazals from Diwan-i Hafiz-i Shirazi" and Iraj Anvar, author of "Say Nothing: Poems of Jalal al-Din Rumi in Persian and English" and visiting lecturer in Persian, for readings of Hafez, Rumi, and modern poetry from the Persian-speaking world. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Language Studies and the Middle East Studies Departmental Undergraduate Group.

Two straight men pretend to be a gay couple when they learn that the owner of the apartment they want to rent is only considering females. Both men subsequently fall in love with their landlady and hilarity ensues as they strive to convince everyone that they are gay, all while trying to steal her heart.
The single greatest risk faced by Deaf people is inadequate exposure to a usable first langauge. Dr. Sanjay Gulati of Harvard Medical School will review recent research which validates the anatomical basis and time course of the critical period for first language acquisition, and which shows the risks to the development of empathic abilities among children who are language-deprived.
