Among Denise Riley’s poetry collections are Penguin Modern Poets 10, with Douglas Oliver and Ian Sinclair, and her Selected Poems. She is the editor of Poets on Writing, Britain 1970 – 1991, and co-editor of the Language, Discourse, Society Reader. Her scholarly books include War in the Nursery: Theories of Child and Mother; ‘Am I that Name’ Feminism and the Category of Women in History; The Words of Selves: Identification, Solidarity, Irony; The Force of Language, with Jean-Jacques Lecercle; and Impersonal Passion: Language As Affect. She has been a Writer in Residence at the Tate Gallery, and is now Professor at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, and Professor-at-large at Cornell University, Ithaca.
