Biography

Lori A. J. Scott-Sheldon is an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University and a Research Associate in the Centers for Prevention and Behavioral Medicine at The Miriam Hospital. She received her PhD in Social Psychology, specializing in health psychology and quantitative methods, from the University of Connecticut in 2006. Prior to Brown, Dr. Scott-Sheldon was a Research Assistant Professor in the Center for Health and Behavior at Syracuse University. Her primary research interests include attitudinal, social-cognitive, and evaluation aspects of health behavior and behavior change. Her research explores the highly interrelated themes of (1) examining or evaluating the conditions under which people adopt or continue risky health behavior, (2) contextualizing health messages to promote attitude and behavior change, and (3) social cognitive processes related to health behaviors. Dr. Scott-Sheldon also has interests in quantitative methods, specifically meta-analytic technique and practice.
