Employed by Brown University for more than 16 years supporting researchers in various capacities, Terry started in the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies (CAAS) in 1995. She later served in the Research Protections Office (RPO) and in 2007 she began her current tenure as Grants Coordinator in the PSTC. Having been a part of the CAAS for 11 years and the PSTC for four and being intimately involved in the preparation of all sections of grant proposals, Terry is highly equipped to provide pre-award administrative and financial management. Her grants management experience includes tracking expenditures, subrecipient monitoring, adherence to compliance, knowing what costs are allowable, allocable, reasonable, and applying them consistently. Additionally, as a result of her experience in the RPO and working with the IRB, Terry has become a valuable asset at the departmental level by helping the PIs navigate the human subjects requirements. Terry was also part of a pilot program for the launch of a university-wide database created by MIT called Coeus that links the university system to sponsors’ online proposal preparation such as Grants.gov. Coeus, similar to Info-Ed, centralizes stored information about proposals, awards, subawards, and sponsors and is the system of record for all research activities at Brown.
