PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] - RI Governor Lincoln Chafee has appointed PSTC Associate and Associate Professor of Economics Justine Hastings to serve a three-year term on the newly formed Rhode Island Council of Economic Advisors. The Council, comprised of five advisors along with four state staff members, will advise the governor, the executive office of commerce, and the state on economic matters and policy, including the strategic economic development plan for the state of Rhode Island.
The task of the Council is to provide state leaders with economic data and analysis to better inform and shape commerce and economic development policies and opportunities in Rhode Island. Members will address issues such as tax credits and expenditures, among others. The responsibilities of the Council also include serving as a collection point of data and information relevant to the economy and economic policy of Rhode Island to form expert, sound advice based on data and economic analysis.
