On March 3, 2013, Martin Weinstock, M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Epidemiology, received the Lila and Murray Gruber Cancer Research Award. The award is the highest scientific honor bestowed by the American Academy of Dermatology. It has been conferred every year by the Academy since 1972; five recipients of the award have been Nobel prize winners. Weinstock is the first epidemiologist to receive the award. Weinstock delivered a plenary lecture, “Public Health Science will cut Melanoma Deaths in Half,” to the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology at the time he received the award.
