Supporting student-initiated STEM outreach

Mentoring student groups

Science Center Outreach staff partner with STEM student groups and help them connect with science faculty in related research areas. We assist student groups with curriculum development and hands-on activities, help develop assessment rubrics, and provide resources. All Brown students are qualified to participate in existing programs or work with staff to develop ideas for new initiatives.

Enhancing Sustained Partnerships

Science Center Outreach builds on two successful flagship science education and outreach programs at Brown—the NSF GK-12 and ARISE programs.  These two programs have developed long-term, sustainable working relationships with local elementary, middle, and high school teachers, as well as area school districts and their administrators. Students can either participate in these programs directly or work with Science Center Outreach staff to determine how their programmatic or pedagogical ideas can be implemented in the sustainable contexts that these programs provide.
