David Preston is the founder and owner of New Harbor Group, a Providence-based marketing and communications firm. Preston specializes in crisis communications and community relations, as well as providing external and internal communications counsel to clients in the public and private sector.
Preston, an attorney, has worked with clients from coast to coast in every sector of the economy to resolve crises resulting from natural and manmade disasters, government and community relations challenges, banking and financial crises, civil and criminal matters and consumer related issues.
Prior to co-founding New Harbor Group in 1992, Preston managed Rhode Island Governor Bruce Sundlun’s successful re-election campaign, the last time a Democrat was elected to that position. Preston also served as communications director for the Governor.
A Marine Corps veteran, Preston served with Battery “L”, 12th Marines, based in Okinawa Japan. As Range Officer at Weapons Training Battalion in Quantico, Virgnia he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. Preston currently serves on the board of Directors of the United Way of Rhode Island. He is past president of Rhode Island Meals on Wheels and the Louis Feinstein Alzheimer's Center.
