Providence Mayoral Debate

In this post-primary debate, candidates for mayor of Providence -- Jorge Elorza, Buddy Cianci, and Daniel Harrop -- will face off on issues affecting the city of Providence and its residents. Topics will include everything for economic development and job creation to education and transportation. The debate will be moderated by Ross Cheit, Professor of Public Policy and Political Science at Brown. This event is funded by the Thomas J. Anton/Frederick Lippitt fund and the Paolino Speaker Series.

In fact, government was reconstructed to meet the needs of a globalized economy. Central banking, fiscal control, tax collection, regulation, port and airport management, infrastructure development -- in all of these areas, radical reforms were made to the architecture of government. A common philosophy shaped all of these reforms: the logic of discipline.

Christine Ferguson - HealthSource RI: Rhode Island's Health Exchange Vision

Aside from providing Rhode Island citizens with a web portal to view health insurance options and determine eligibility for federal premium assistance tax credits, state-based exchanges can also be a driver of change. HealthSource RI director Christine Ferguson will discuss how Rhode Island's health insurance exchange hopes to impact over all health care policy in the state by having an educated consumer base drive changes in plan design, delivery system and cost.
