Nancy Safian has lived and worked in Providence for the past fifteen years. For most of that time she managed arts education projects aimed at increasing access to arts and arts education for teenagers from under-resourced public schools. She was Education Coordinator at Trinity Repertory Company from 1995-2001 where she created Theater Ambassadors and helped launch the theater’s internship program. Most recently Nancy was Manager of Project Open Door, a college access program for teens from low income families based at RISD. Nancy holds an MFA in Dance from Smith College and before entering the world of arts administration, she taught dance at public and private schools around the country. She continues her creative practice as the mother of two young children and the wife of a newspaper reporter.
