Design/Tech@Brown

Design and tech opportunities abound for concentrators and non-concentrators alike in the Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies, not only in the course offerings which include Advanced Set Design, Stage Lighting, and Stage Management, but also as design and tech staff for the various department sponsored productions.

The department relies heavily on students for all of its productions, including the mainstage Sock and Buskin Season, dance concerts, and a myriad of special performance events throughout the year. Additionally, the Brownbrokers musical produced by the Department every other year, is fully designed and technically run by students, with mentoring by the department's production staff. Although you do not have to be a concentrator to get involved in Design/Tech, if you are interested in Concentration in Theatre Arts and Performace Studies please consider the Theatre Arts concentration track. For more information please see our Undergraduate Handbook.

Outside of the TAPS season Rites and Reasons Theatre also provides many student design and tech opportunities. Additionally there are a myriad of student performance groups which are always looking for excited students interested in design and becoming involved in the technical aspects of their productions.
