Welcome to Brown. We hope you will come to love our exceptional approach to learning, our time-honored traditions, and our strong sense of community.
Parents and family members are important members of the Brown community. We want you to feel connected to Brown, to understand why your student chose and values Brown, and to know what goes on during the school year. You can learn more about Brown by reading our news online, attending special events on campus, joining Brown chapters in your area, and serving as our best ambassadors for the value of a Brown education.
Parents are invited to A Day on College Hill, a two-day event in April for all newly-accepted students and their families. Family Weekend, a three-day event in October, offers you another opportunity to sample Brown's academic and extracurricular offerings.
Brown Club & Alumni Events
Brown's Alumni Association has chapters in every large urban area in the U.S. and in many locations abroad. Most groups welcome Brown parents' participation in their local activities. You can view upcoming events in your area at http://alumni.brown.edu/calendar. Parents also receive the Brown Alumni Magazine, published six times a year, which includes information about events in Providence, across the country, and around the world.
Events on Campus
The University Events Calendar provides information about all events on campus. View upcoming events or subscribe to "Featured Events at Brown" to receive emails about major lectures and events open to the public.
Parents as Ambassadors
As you learn more about Brown, you will be able to help prospective students and their families think about Brown. People you know or that your student knows may need your help considering Brown as an opportunity.
Brown parents can also open doors and expand our network by creating apprenticeships, internships, and other opportunities for employing Brown students. Depending on your areas of expertise, you may be invited to join a committee, provide career counseling, suggest campus speakers, or host regional events.
Philanthropic support is essential to our University ‘s excellence. The Parents Annual Fund is one of the most successful in the Ivy League, and donors to the Parents Annual Fund provided gifts which were put to work immediately to sustain Brown’s academic excellence and ensure that all students have access to an outstanding education.
