The Coalition Against Relationship Abuse (CARA) is the on-campus resource for issues related to domestic violence and relationship abuse. Our work centers around raising awareness and getting our name out as a a resource center for those who want to learn more, whether for academic or personal interests. Our projects this year include:
- The Clothesline Project, where survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault create T-shirts relating to their experiences. The shirts are then hung on the Main Green for public viewing.
- Movie screenings that explore the far-reaching effects of domestic violence on families and society. These take place every third Sunday of the month and also involve discussion of the movies and the questions they raise.
- Self-defense seminars to protect against assault.
- Working to raise awareness by inviting speakers, hosting informational panels, and distributing publicity.
