Meeting Places Around Campus
The John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Library (10 Prospect Street), otherwise known as "the Rock", serves as the primary teaching and research library for the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts. With some exceptions, the Rock is usually the most appropriate library at Brown in which to begin research on a topic. For a quiet and comfortable place to study, check out the newly renovated Reading Room at the Rock!
The Friedman Study Center (201 Thayer Street - corner of Waterman and Thayer Streets) at the Science Library is a central gathering place for students with more than 27,000 square feet of study and social space. The entire area has wireless internet access and comfortable furniture. There is a café in the lobby The Friedman Study Center is open 24/5 and closes only on Saturday and Sunday morning from 2am to 10am. The library stacks and services close at 2am Sun-Thu and 10pm Fri/Sat. The library stacks and services open at 8:30am weekdays and 10am weekends.
Bringing a Car to Campus
Residential students are not allowed to bring motor vehicles to campus. Commuter students may only use motor vehicles for transportation to and from Brown. Commuters are prohibited from transporting other students in their motor vehicles.
Students who must commute to campus by car are required to purchase a parking permit from the Transportation Office. The Transportation Office is located at 69 Brown St. -- JW Wilson, Fifth Floor, Suite 511.
