Brown Summer Theatre’s renowned TheatreBridge Company invites passionate and idealistic young theatre artists to join us on the Brown campus for a 6-week residency dedicated to tapping into the fun and ferocity that makes the most memorable Acting truly irresistible! We believe that if you nurture the human being, the creative artist will grow also!

The TheatreBridge Company, entering its 10th season in the summer of 2014, puts you in the center of a creative community that includes a world-class faculty devoted exclusively to TheatreBridge training and acclaimed for its expert mentorship and its capacity to treat every young artist as a unique and specific individual.  You will be amazed at the growth in your creative powers as classes, workshops, rehearsals, and performances help you to dig into your deepest human resources.  Expect to be engrossed and engaged as you work daily on your physical, vocal, and impulsive expressiveness, and as you work nightly to practice and rehearse scenes, and to devise theatrical projects.

Brown University TheatreBridge & Playwrights Workshop Program for High School Students

The TheatreBridge Company follows the model of the most successful conservatory training programs available in America.  Working with techniques pioneered by (among others) Sandy Meisner, Ann Bogart, Uta Hagen, and Kristin Linklater, our training grounds your Acting in the reality of doing, expressed through a responsive body and an empowered voice.  It also stretches into many aspects of theatre practice, and, from year to year, we have included extended workshops in Shakespeare, clowning, stage combat, or contact improvisation.

Brown’s summer theatre community surrounds you with theatre artists to inspire and talk with about making theatre at college and in the professional world.  You will interact regularly with the professional artists of the Brown/Trinity Playwright’s Repertory Theatre, and you will work closely with the gifted undergraduate artists selected for Brown’s Undergraduate Apprentice Company.  You will live and work alongside the young playwrights of the Playwright’s Workshop Program.  And your Resident Advisors will be dedicated to helping you focus, strengthen and release your creativity while exploring the reality of what life is like on a vibrant, thriving college campus.
