Web Authentication (Shibboleth)
Web Authentication (Shibboleth) provides the Brown community with the ability to protect web resources and exercise fine-grained control of access to those resources to members of the Brown Community and federation partners. As part of a federation, Brown community members may be granted access to web resources that reside at other federated institutions while using Brown authentication credentials. Unlike Authorization/Authentication, Federated Single Sign On allows the inclusion of people who are not in Brown's LDAP directory.
DCCs, SysAdmins, and the Help Desk are the are the first point of contact for departments setting up Shibboleth to protect resources. Installation/Configuration instructions are available on the documentation website, and additional support may be requested from the CIS Help Desk and the CIS Identity Management team.
