Digitization services are available for personal slide collections, photos, videos, audio cassettes, text (OCR and PDF) which will be used for faculty and graduate student teaching, presentations and research. Content is prepared according to Brown Library standards, and full quality archival copies are made whenever needed.
Web conferencing, which uses the WebEx technology, allows multiple individuals or groups to share information on-line. Through this service one can schedule, manage and attend on-line meetings. Features include document and application sharing (screen sharing), chat, polling and video sharing.
Brown media distribution channels include options for streaming and download.
Streaming (files appear on your web browser): Flash and Apple streaming to computers and mobile devices is provided by Wowza for up to 400 concurrent users. Streaming content is viewed via the web and cannot be downloaded.
Curricular and event support for faculty, staff and students, including technology and training for over 150 classrooms and lecture halls on campus. If you have reserved a room on campus and need to project your computer screen, use a microphone, etc., you will need to fill out the request form.
The Media Production Group provides video and audio recording (production) and editing (post-production) services. Users can request this service if you need assistance start-to-finish or for just part of the process. MPG staff can shoot video and have equipment such as lighting, HD cameras, microphones, a small HD field monitor and a live-switcher.
IP based video conferencing from a designated room in the CIT. A technician may be requested to establish and monitor the conference if requested under the 'Special Requirements/Comments' section of the request form. Conferences outside of normal University business hours should also be noted under the 'Special Requirements/Comments' section.
Provide design guidance, vendor selection and management services to departments interested in upgrading or installing AV technology in their buildings.
This service is only available for academic purposes. Videos, Audio Cassettes, DVDs and CDs can be copied or transferred; foreign VHS (PAL, SECAM) can be converted to US standard (NTSC). Copyright protected materials cannot be duplicated without prior written permission from the copyright holder.
IPTV can be accessed via a wired ethernet connection from University residence halls, allowing users to watch television programming on their personal computers.
