The Creative Mind Initiative capitalizes on Brown’s unique open curriculum and its interdisciplinary research and education culture and practice to afford a more porous environment for experiencing creativity. Creative thinking is a critical response to the world around us - to our curiosities, our interests, the questions our observations generate, the ways we frame problems, and the strategies we develop for translating what we imagine into new experiences.
Every discipline across campus has its own strategies for the critical assessment of process and product and offer differing approaches to generating and critiquing work. The Initiative provides integrated course development, new research models and creative conversations among creative minds on and off campus. The initiative also leverages the Granoff Center for the Arts promoting an environment to work collaboratively, exchange ideas, and create new art forms. The Center serves as a catalyst for collaboration between and among the arts, sciences, and humanities.
