Brown President Ruth Simmons has declared academic year 2011/12 the "Year of China" at Brown.  A year-long series of event are planned to explore the culture, art, and politics of China and to strengthen ties between Brown and Chinese institutions.  IMNI is hosting a year-long seminar series featuring leading Chinese nanoscientists.  We have hosted seminars and visits by President Wei Yang of Zhejiang University, and Professor Xinhe Bao, President of Shenyang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Science.&nb

Rhode Island establishes a State Consortium for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (Arijit Bose, Director and Robert Hurt, Co-Director) as collaboration between URI, Brown and regional industry.  The consortium leadership traveled to India in summer of 2011 to establish a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Kanpur and its DTU Unit of Nanoscience (http://www.uri.edu/nano).
