Pre-College courses are our most popular offerings - Students in grades 9-12 explore subjects, experience college life, and advance their studies without the pressure of grades.

Pre-College courses show you what it means to be completely absorbed in the learning process at an Ivy League University. As part of your learning, you will do things you may only have dreamed of - shadow a physician, hone your writing skills, map the stars, seek answers to human behavior, examine international affairs, or analyze your own DNA.

Students take one or two Pre-College courses per session, and may attend multiple sessions. All courses meet Monday through Friday for a minimum of 3 hours per day. You will have daily assignments, group work, and opportunities to meet with your instructor. Many courses feature site visits, labs, and hands-on projects, all of which broaden Summer@Brown learning experiences.

A Summer@Brown experience goes far beyond the classroom.

Outside of class, you will make friends, attend events and social activities on campus, and have time for summer fun. Preparing for college continues with Summer@Brown’s extensive Co-Curricular activity calendar – Workshops and presentations designed specifically to help you succeed with your college applications, and better prepare you for the transition to college-level academics.
