Biography

Jay Salcedo is the Kessler Scholars Program Manager for the Undocumented, First-Generation College and Low-Income (U-FLi) Student Center and works closely with first and second year U-FLi  students to support their transition from high school to college. In her role, Jay provides strengths-based advising, reflection-based programming, resource engagement, and a community building space for Kessler Scholars at Brown. Jay has spent most of her life and career within community and educational spaces, where she has served as a youth worker and social justice educator. Jay was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and has lived in Providence, RI for over ten years. She has obtained a Master’s Degree in Youth Development from Rhode Island College and is a mother to 6-year old, Kairo.
