Graduate School

 

Friday, May 25

5:30–8:30 p.m.

Brown Bear Buffet, one of Brown's oldest traditions. A delicious meal and entertainment by Brown a cappella groups. For details and ticket information, please refer to

Sharpe Refectory, Main Dining Room

5–7 p.m.

The Graduate Student Council invites all advanced-degree recipients to a pre-Campus Dance champagne toast. Graduate Student Lounge, Graduate Center

9 p.m.–1 a.m.

Campus Dance, sponsored by the Brown Alumni Association. For your invitation to dance under the stars, please refer to the enclosed Campus Dance brochure. At midnight, an informal, impromptu singing of the Alma Mater will take place on Sayles Hall steps.

Saturday, May 26

9 a.m.–2 p.m.

Commencement Forums, a series of academic colloquia by faculty, alumni, students and distinguished guests. Detailed listings and locations are available here.

2:30 p.m.

Graduate School Ceremony Rehearsal.

All advanced-degree recipients are required to attend a walk-through of Commencement; Ph.D. recipients should bring their hoods.
Lincoln Field

3:30–5 p.m.

Graduate School Reception for all advanced-degree candidates, their families, and guests. Join the deans and staff of the Graduate School at an informal gathering for drinks.

Sunday, May 27

9:00 a.m.

Commencement Procession Formation

Academic regalia must be worn for the Graduate School Ceremony
Waterman Street between brown and Thayer streets

9:30 a.m.

Commencement Procession Steps Off
Faunce Arch, The College Green

10:30 a.m.

Graduate School Convocation Ceremony awarding of degrees    

Lincoln Field

Immediately Following

Departmental Ceremonies at assigned locations as listed in the Commencement program. Most following ceremonies, depending on the number of graduates in the department, will end no later than 4 p.m.

 

Rain Plan: The Commencement procession will be cancelled only in the event of heavy rain conditions.
