Commencement 2009 Events: Medical School

Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception
Andrews Dining Hall, Pembroke Campus
This ceremony honors senior medical and PLME students receiving student awards. Lunch will be served following the awards ceremony. Invitations are forthcoming under separate cover.

Medical School Ceremony Rehearsal 
First Unitarian Church, Corner of Benefit and Benevolent Streets
All candidates for a medical degree MUST attend the Medical School ceremony rehearsal.

Graduation Dinner for MD 2009
Providence Marriott, One Orms Street, Providence, RI
An evening to honor Medical School faculty, residents, staff, and family members — this dinner is a wonderful event for graduates and their families. Each graduate attending will receive a complimentary ticket, and may purchase additional tickets for family members and friends. Tickets are $25 per person and go on sale April 1 — more information to follow.

Marcus Aurelius Statue, Lincoln Field (behind Sayles Hall on the Green)
No later than 9:00 AM, all Medical School degree recipients, dressed in cap and gown, should report to the Marcus Aurelius Statue behind Sayles Hall for the class photograph.

Commencement Procession Formation
Faunce House, Waterman Street
No later than 10:00 AM, the medical students will line up at the assembly area on Waterman Street, facing west, running from Faunce House back toward Thayer Street (Arnold Lab side of the street).

Please note: The Commencement procession will be cancelled only in the event of heavy rain conditions. If the rain plan is in effect, a yellow pennant will be flown on the flagpole on the College Green and a message will be left at 863-2474. Medical School degree recipients, in caps and gowns, should report directly to the First Unitarian Church by 11:00 AM.
No alcoholic beverages are allowed during the procession or the Commencement exercises.

The Medical School Commencement Ceremony Awarding of Degrees
First Unitarian Church, Corner of Benefit and Benevolent Streets
The Medical School Ceremony will begin at approximately 11:15 AM at the First Unitarian Church and the doors will open at 10:30 AM for seating.

Post-Graduation Reception
Hope Club, Six Benevolent Street
Immediately following the Medical School ceremony, a post-graduation reception for the Medical School faculty, graduates and their families, will be held at the Hope Club — across the street from the First Unitarian Church.
