Hi. I'm a junior concentrating in Urban Studies; I'm originally from Portland, Oregon. Last Spring I took "Highways and Byways in Antiquity", a classics seminar co-taught by two professors - one from the classics dept. and one from archeology. While I did enjoy the literary approach to history, I felt more engaged by the material studies/archeology side. Ultimately, though, I was most fascinated by how those two approaches informed one another. That course led me to look for others that might build on that fascination. I hope that "13 things" will help me continue to explore different approaches to thinking about history, how these approaches can speak to each other, and possibilities of synthesizing different ways of studying history.
My final project in this class will explore Making Skyscrapers Move.
