Babak Hemmatian
Graduate Student
Office: 190 Thayer St., Room 402

Babak is a 5th year Ph.D. candidate in cognitive science and a second year Master's student in computer science at Brown University. He is broadly interested in how individuals evaluate and make use of social information in their reasoning. To that end, he uses behavioral experiments and machine learning methods applied to social media data (e.g. Reddit) to probe how discourse around controversial topics (such as same-sex marriage and marijuana legalization) has evolved over time.

Prior to starting his graduate studies at Brown, Babak received a Bachelor's degree in clinical psychology from University of Tehran, Iran.
