Elsie has published a new paper out in PLoS Genetics with Emilia and Sohini, entitled Integrating sex-bias into studies of archaic introgression on chromosome X! This exciting piece interrogates whether sex-biased demographic progresses, particularly during archaic introgression in to modern humans, can explain why the X chromosome is an introgression desert. It furthers the collaboration between the Huerta-Sanchez and Ramachandran Labs, and is the first study to explicitly model sex-bias in archaic introgression and its potential role in creating the dearth of archaic coverage on the X chromosome.
