Disciplinary Issues

Brown’s disciplinary policies are designed to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all members of the campus community. Unfortunately, there are times when students run afoul of disciplinary and academic codes. The University will not hesitate to notify parents when it believes a student may be placing his or her academic career in serious jeopardy. University administrators may also contact parents if a student behaves recklessly, endangers himself or herself or others, repeatedly refuses to acknowledge official notifications from deans, has been arrested, or has received repeated warnings about personal behavior.

The Office of the Dean of the College handles all charges of academic misconduct according to the rules set forth in Brown’s Academic Code Policy. Staff in the Office of Student Life assist students with the judicial affairs process and with promoting civility and respect on campus. Students are always encouraged to speak with their parents regarding conduct matters.
