Health Services records at Brown are confidential and are not released to anyone, including parents and legal guardians, without written authorization from the student. Parents who are concerned about their son’s or daughter’s mental health can discuss their concern and seek advice by contacting the Office of Psychological Services. However, if a parent is seeking information about a student who has seen a clinician at Psychological Services, the student must first sign a release authorization form. Parents whose students have special mental-health needs are encouraged to talk with their sons and daughters about the challenges they may face in making the transition to college life.
