Elizabeth Hoover

Elizabeth Hoover, PhD is an assistant professor of American Studies and Ethnic Studies, with a focus in American Indian Studies, at Brown University. Her research interests include environmental health research and subsistence revival movements in Native American communities.Her current book project explores the environmental, cultural, political and economic factors that have lead to changes over the past generation in health and local food production in the Mohawk community of Akwesasne. This project also examines community based participatory environmental health research conducted between the community and a local university to determine the impact of environmental contamination on community health. Elizabeth has been a member of CIRG since 2005 when she joined as a graduate student working for the Community Outreach Core of Brown’s Superfund Research Program.
