11:30 a.m. "The Shadows of the Cave": New Trends in Iranian Literature. Roundtable discussion: Ali Gheissari (Brown University), Shahryar Mandanipour (Current IWP Fellow), Nahid Mozaffari (editor, "Strange Times, My Dear," a PEN anthology of contemporary Iranian fiction), Shahrnush Parsipur (Past IWP Fellow). Moderated by Elliott Colla. Joukowsky Family Forum, Watson Institute of International Studies. This event is free and open to the public.

8 p.m. "The Meaning of Night": Vanguard Iranian literature and traditional Iranian music. With readings by Shahryar Mandanipour, Shahrnush Parsipur and a performance by the Saba Ensemble. McCormack Family Theater, 70 Brown St. Refreshments. This event is free and open to the public.

Iranian Film Festival. Films by Shirin Neshat, Kouross Esmaeli, Farzad Motaman, and others. The final event of the Brown University International Writers Project's Freedom to Write Literary Festival, "Strange Times, My Dear."

3 p.m. Short from Shirin Neshat's adaptation of Women without Men. The Lizard, dir. Kamal Tabrizi (2004). 106 Smith-Buonanno. This event is free and open to the public.

6 p.m. Short from Shirin Neshat's adaptation of Women without Men. Maxx, dir. Saman Moghaddam (2005). 106 Smith-Buonanno. This event is free and open to the public.
